In Portugal, it holds a reputation as a delicacy, favored by locals in coastal regions, despite its high cost as a result of the risks involved in gathering them.

Prepared in a rather simple manner, consisting of boiling water with a touch of salt, they are best savored with toasted bread topped with butter and accompanied by an ice-cold local beer, amongst family and friends.
